Corny and Cute

Happy Wednesday all!
Today I'm sharing the remainder of the projects for my 'Pretty Preserves' class.
The corn image in the 'Perfectly Preserved' stamp set inspired me to create something for Thanksgiving. I made a cutlery holder and a cute wee gift box. I just love how you can colour the corn in various colours!
I positioned the corn in such a way so you can add a name or message if you want to.

Here's how the class will work...
The class fee is $15 and this includes the card posted yesterday and 5 of the cutlery holders OR  5 gift boxes. If you will require more than five, just let me know and additional kits can be purchased for $2 each.
Can you mix them up? Yes you can. If you'd like (for example) 3 cutlery holders and 2 gift boxes the class fee covers five so you're all good!
The reason for doing it this way? If you want to have enough for a table setting you can, otherwise you can make them for fun!
I'm sure this is as clear as mud as we say in NZ!

Pretty Preserves

Happy Tuesday everyone :)
The 'Perfectly Preserved' and 'Cannery Set' in the new catty are just too cute ...I couldn't resist them!
I wanted to use them to come up with something Fall related since we will be heading into Fall (and Thanksgiving) before too long. The colours of the co-ordinating DSP are so luscious and rich. I was inspired to use them.
When I saw the mason jar stamp in the set, I thought it would be neat to stamp it on acetate to create a "glass" effect, so that's what I did.
I also stamped the image on Whisper White cardstock and stuck the acetate jar to it with glue dots. I placed the dots in such a way so they would would covered later on (by the jar lid and the flower).
Using the new Framelits with the co-ordinating stamp sets is just so easy!
I cut the jar, lid, flowers, tag and even the label behind the mason jar, with them.
Add some of my favourite linen thread with one of the new super cute wooden buttons, and there you have it... some pretty preserves to brighten someone's day :)

Welcoming Fall

Happy Thursday people :)
It's been a busy week with the kids back at school and setting up routines again.
When I took my youngest DD to the bus stop I noticed the changing leaves and realised Fall (or Autumn as I call it) has come our way. Fall is my favourite season so I made this card to announce it's arrival.
I used some of the new goodies from the Holiday Mini. I kept the card really simple with only a few embellishments. I water coloured the image and cut it out. Yes it did take a while but I had seen it in the new Mini and loved the effect. I hand stitched (yes with a needle and thread) the stitching on the very Vanilla card stock.
The card base is textured 'More Mustard' card stock. I rarely use the textured stuff but I do like it. It means I can add a little "something something" without having to stamp or find some matching DSP. I did use a small amount of the new 'Spice Cake' DSP under the image but not my usual amount.

Adding Some Spice To Your Gift Giving

As a child I was told it is better to give than receive and as a child I can remember having trouble with this concept!
Thankfully I have grown up and now appreciate the true nature of the sentiment. With Canada's Thanksgiving holiday coming up, I wanted to incorporate the idea of gift giving into a class. Usually in a class, I focus on the cards. This time I have made the class all about gifts.

First up, I created a gorgeous 4 x 4 x 4" chipboard cube ready to be filled with goodies that you can give away or keep. I decorated it with the scrumptious new 'Spice Cake' DSP and fabric from the upcoming Holiday Mini.
'Pool Party', 'More Mustard' and 'Soft Suede' card stock combined ... just gorgeous.

To add an extra something to whatever you might want to add to your cube, I've made a gift tag from card stock and the 'Spice Cake' fabric that will set off any gift it is attached to. Here I have attached mine to a bag of goodies for the purposes of photographing it (Of course, some of those goodies may have been consumed in the photographic process!).

As I was creating this class I thought I should add a little something extra, just in case one wants to keep the cube and needs something to attach their tag to. Using the new 'Petite Pocket' die I made a candy bag, Autumnal style...
Now, I'd just like to point out here that it took me quite some time to colour coordinate the candy to the colours in the DSP! I was determined to find something to put in the pocket that matched, and I got there in the end, but what a mission!
I've made a pocket style gift holder and lined it with 'Spice Cake' DSP. I've used felt and new In Colour brads and ribbon to embellish it. You can give this as a gift as it is or you could attach your gift tag to it to "spice" it up (sorry couldn't help the play on words!).

To finish up this ensemble, I had to include a card, because even a card on it's own is a gift in itself ...
You can change the sentiment on the card and it would be suitable for so many occasions.

So there you have it, gifts galore and gifts to give or keep.
