"Sew, Wooden" You Know It?

You'll have to excuse my play on words for the title of this post! It gives you an idea what the post is about though :).
With Spring nearly here (Yay!) it means craft fair season will be here before too long also.
I have one coming up in early April so have started to make items for it.
I have had loads of fun coming up with new and unique products that will hopefully tempt customers.
Here's few of the goodies I have made so far...
It took me a while to source all the bits I wanted for this but finally I got them all. It's my version of a sewing kit. Isn't it "sew" sweet! The top of the jar is a pin cushion made with SU!'s cute button fabric (I love it!) and is used to hold pins, whilst inside these are the contents...
Buttons, thread, pins, needles (in the wooden needle container), safety pins and even scissors. Everything you could want for that sewing emergency.

I had a few spare needle containers so I sanded them down, sponged them with ink and embossed an image on them. I have to say it was nerve racking stamping the image because you only got one shot at getting it right and centred and properly inked!
Here's what I managed to create:
I've put 5 needles in each and they are ready to sell. I'm really pleased with how they turned out.
Whilst we are still on "wood", this is my favourite item and I am keeping it for myself, but just had to share it...
It's an old fashioned wooden clothes peg that I have decorated in a similar fashion to the needle containers. I love the sentiment on it and just think my pretty peg is the cutest thing I have made in a long time :). It is going to sit on the mantle in my craft room.

Lastly I want to show you some canvas art I have been working on.
The inspiration for this came from a Sympathy card I made a wee while ago. I sponged my background first then stamped the tree in Versamark so I could heat emboss it. Some of the embossing powder stuck to the surrounding grass but I think it adds some extra dimension.

While I was busy creating my masterpiece, my DD's wanted to make one of their own too. I was amazed at the finished products. I stamped the image for them and they did the rest. I asked my eldest DD if I could post hers on my blog and she said yes, so I'm posting it now before she changes her mind!
Isn't it fantastic?! I love the sunset effect DD created as the background. Perfect for those cherry blossoms.
Thanks for taking a peek :)

I love the needle containers! You did a perfect job on them and the canvas is gorgeous. I think DD takes after her Mum too she did an awesome job on her card. Well done!

Maree,

Thanks for the wonderful photos and ideas. I have a few other questions: what kind of ink did you use to stamp the needle holders, and how did you attach the buttons to the card?
