Delightful Doilies

It's the 1st of July... do you know what that means???
It means it's Canada Day (If you live in Canada of course) and SU!'s new catalogue goes live!!!
For all those in the paper crafting world this is like Christmas come early! So many new goodies to look at and take in (sigh)... plenty of cups of tea are required for browsing through the new book.

One of the perks of being a SU! demonstrator is you get a sneak peek at some of the new releases. I have used one of these sneak peeks to make the following ensemble for my next upcoming class.
It's the 'Delicate Doilies' stamp set and the oh so beautiful matching DSP. It comes with laser cut doilies that you can use. How cool is that?!
I have also used a brand new punch called Ribbon Lace.

In the class you will make two cards (one of which you'll be making an envelope for as well... yes I did say make!) and a cute gift purse that you can make out in the photo below.
Interested in attending the class?
Email to register your seat!

Date: Wednesday July 13th/ Thursday July 14th, 7 - 9.30pm

Cost: $18

In Colour Tea Cups

Cups of tea make me think of the start of the day. Mine always begins with a cup of Earl Grey Tea!
I just love this tea cup stack from the 'Morning Cup' stamp set from SU!. I haven't water coloured for ages and wanted to try out some of the gorgeous new colours being released next month and tea cups came to mind. The fact that I was drinking a cup of tea at the time might have had an influence on my choice LOL.
The original idea for the card wasn't mine. Thanks Krista for the inspiration! I tweaked the colours and orientation to make it my own.
To colour my cups and saucers I have used three of the new colours and 'Garden Green' from the current range. Can you see why I love the new colours so much?! Lots of turquoise/aqua based colours, mmmmmm!
The DSP I have used is retired but the colours in it reminded me of a few of the new ones and it was a good excuse to use up some of my stash.
Thanks for stopping by and Happy Saturday :)

A Sneaky Peek!

With the new catalogue being released next month, it means lots of new stamp sets, class ideas and projects. I can't show you all of the first class for July but I can give you a sneaky peek.
Isn't it delicious?! There are several new goodies shown here... can you work out what they are? I'll give you a hint, I haven't used any of the new In Colours!

Motorcycle Madness

With Father's day this weekend, I have been on a bit of a mission to get some masculine cards made to have down in the Barracks store to sell.
This is my most recent creation... I went for a grungy, dirty look. It's one of the first things that springs to mind for me when I think of my Dad. My Dad collects and restores vintage cars so he spends alot of time in his garage looking grungy and dirty (Love you Dad!). Even though my Dad never owned a motorcycle, I thought the image still went well with the grungy look I wanted to achieve.
I have used a non SU! embossing folder I found and sponged and inked it up to give it an old and worn look. I scrunched it up and tore it slightly (I know!) to complete the look.
I gave the same treatment to the motorcycle image and then covered it with a glaze and tried to crack it. Not so successful but it is still passable. I do love though that the glaze made some of the sponging look kind of rusty.
Thanks for taking a peek!

Retired Birthday Wishes

Just about everything on this card is retired or nearly retired. The colours, the DSP and even the 'Happy Birthday' sentiment. I had some scraps of the DSP that I have been meaning to use up and I had stamped the main image a while ago but never finished it. That seems to happen so often.
So, today, I took the bull by the horns (or the stamps by the ink pad) and put it all together. I embossed the DSP to give it some texture and added some lace. Mmmmm I do like the lace.
So there you have it... some "retired" birthday wishes finally finished!

New Tutorial For Purchase

I've been working on a tutorial I have had in my mind for a while now. It is finally finished (Phew!). I have custom made a satchel and three matching cards using 'The Open sea' stamp set and handsome 'Nautical Expedition DSP. Of course you could change the colours to suit whatever style or theme you wanted to go with.

Nice In Neutrals

The original idea for today's card came from one of the ASI team members (Thanks Sandi!). Sandi's card was in black and white. It inspired me to try a neutral card of my own.
Here I have used nothing but neutral colours... Black, Crumb Cake, early Espresso and Very Vanilla. I love the way the colours work together. The card is elegant and timeless. It is soft enough to be suitable for a sympathy card yet bold enough to make a statement. Can you tell that I love?!

Add some brads and linen thread, pierce a few rows of holes and viola, a nice and neutral card to share.

Carol's ASI Challenge Card

Here it is... Carol's card I received in the mail for last months challenge. Isn't it lovely? I love how Carol took the Soft Suede part of the challenge and interpreted it with ink. The sponging gives such a wonderful aged look! And who wouldn't love to receive this card with that sentiment on it. Beautiful!
Thanks Carol for another card I am sure to CASE!

My ASI Challenge Card

This is the card I made for this month's ASI team challenge. I've used Baja Breeze, Melon Mambo and Soft Suede as required. The Big Shot pieces are the circle the stamped images are in and the tasteful scallop trim that goes across the card.
I didn't have any patterned Melon Mambo so I made my own for the scallop trim. I stamped the flower head from the main stamped image just to give it a bit of interest.
I received Carol's card in the mail too so that will be tomorrow's post. It is as beautiful as always!

ASI Challenge Card For May

Hello all!
This months ASI team challenge idea was mine. I decided upon a colour challenge combined with the use of something from the Big Shot. The colours I chose were Baja Breeze (of course!), Melon Mambo (one I struggle to use) and Soft Suede (gotta have a neutral in there).
This card is the one I received from the lovely Linda. I don't have the stamp set she used so am just tickled to have a card with it now. But look at this...
Linda has added drops of water to the fountain!!! I love it! What Linda did is use Crystal Effects. I would never thought of doing that but it looks so effective. This is why I love our ASI challenges... I always learn something new and am constantly amazed at what the other ladies come up with.
Thanks Linda, I love your card!
